When were you diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis?
I was diagnosed at just 15 months old!
What IS rheumatoid arthritis?
According to the CDC, Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune and inflammatory disease, which means that your immune system attacks healthy cells in your body by mistake. This causes inflammation (painful swelling) in the affected parts of the body.
In a joint with RA, the lining of the joint becomes inflamed, causing damage to the surrounding tissue. This tissue damage can cause long-lasting or chronic pain, unsteadiness, and deformity.
RA can also affect other tissues throughout the body and cause problems in organs such as the lungs, heart, and eyes.
When were you diagnosed with Fibromyalgia?
In 2011…I was 13 years old!
What medications are you currently taking?
Currently I’m on Taltz, an injectable medication I administer once a month. I also take Celexa for my fibromyalgia.
Where do you live?
Born and raised in beautiful California! I currently live in a small suburb about 30 minutes outside Los Angeles.
What IS glowlexa?
GLOWLEXA funny enough came from Club Penguin. (If you don’t know what that is…it’s essentially an online game where everyone’s a penguin. You waddle around, play mini games, chat with other penguins…you get the drift.) I was probably ten or eleven at the time and was incredibly curious as to what would happen if I typed a curse word to another penguin.
Don’t ask what I was thinking, because I truly don’t know.
Long story short…I did it, and my cute little penguin got BANNED from the site. It was only a 24 hour ban, however I was CONVINCED I was going to get in some sort of trouble. I was so embarrassed I made an entirely new Club Penguin account. I had to pick a new username. At first I tried “GoAlexa” but that was taken… Then I tried “GLOWlexa” and it was free!
So ever since elementary school I’ve used glowlexa as my username for just about everything. Email, social media handles, and now my blog! Some of my friends even call me Glow. I never imagined my 11 year old mischief would still follow me over a decade later.
