Hi there! My name is Alexa Sutherland. I’m a Californian twenty-something diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis at just 15 months old and Fibromyalgia at age 13. I’ve been on just about every medication for RA you’ve seen advertised on TV and have tried several treatment plans to combat chronic pain. My healthy journey has been exactly that — a journey!
In my twenties I have found the constant need to advocate for myself and other people battling invisible disabilities. I’ve enjoyed using social media to spread awareness and am excited to continue that here!
My mission is to educate others that hundreds of disabilities are invisible. You cannot judge a book by its cover and you certainly cannot assume that because someone looks healthy on the outside, that they’re okay on the inside. I aim to inspire, encourage, and empower individuals who are fighting similar battles.
Anything the mind can conceive, the body can achieve.
While my disability plays a big part in my every day life – it does not define me! Since playing sports was always out of the question for me, I turned to acting and writing to fill my time. I’ve been lucky enough to work on some amazing film and television projects in recent years while also writing my first novel! (I’m also lucky enough to live in one of the coolest cities where I can pursue these creative dreams!) I thoroughly enjoy traveling and am also excited to share those adventures on this blog as well. Welcome!!!!
